What is cataract surgery?
A cataract is a gradual clouding of the eye lens, this clouding causes significant changes in clarity and visual acuity. In its initial stages cataract usually has no symptoms. In time, cataract progresses and one or more of the following symptoms may occur: blurred vision, double vision, faded colours and halo.
During cataract surgery, the cloudy lens is replaced with an artificial lens. There are several types of artificial lenses and the type that is suitable for you will be assessed and calculated on an individual basis during an extended examination and personal conversation with your surgeon.
Artificial lens implantation surgery can also be performed in cases when laser eye surgery of vision is contraindicated. The final decision about the type of surgery will be made during the consultation with your doctor.
