On October 14, 2026, Deutsche Augenklinik (German Eye Clinic) in Kyiv hosted a meeting between Professor Oksana Vitovska, Medical Director of the clinic and President of the Ukrainian Alliance of Ophthalmologists, and Dr. Hiroya Goto, Medical Attaché at the Embassy of Japan in Ukraine.
The discussion focused on current issues in the provision of ophthalmic care in Ukraine, particularly amid the ongoing full-scale war, as well as potential areas of Ukrainian–Japanese cooperation in medical education, scientific research, and professional exchange.
Particular attention was given to war-related ocular injuries, modern approaches to the treatment and rehabilitation of affected patients, and the importance of international professional cooperation in improving specialized medical care.

The meeting took place in an atmosphere of open and constructive dialogue, highlighting the value of professional contacts and knowledge exchange between Ukrainian and Japanese specialists.
Deutsche Augenklinik greatly values this opportunity for dialogue and extends its sincere gratitude to Dr. Hiroya Goto for his attention to the current needs of Ukrainian ophthalmology and for discussing prospects for further cooperation.
