Being part of European ophthalmology means not only keeping up with change, but being directly involved in the professional dialogue that shapes the future of our specialty.
Professor Oksana Vitovska, Medical Director and Scientific Consultant of Deutsche Augenklinik, took part in the congress of the German Ophthalmological Society, DOG 2026, in Berlin — one of the key professional events in European ophthalmology.

As part of the scientific programme, Professor Vitovska gave a talk presenting Ukrainian experience to an international audience. Her lecture, “From Germany to Ukraine and Back: Two Centuries of Ophthalmic Exchange”, was delivered at the ophthalmic history symposium of the Julius Hirschberg Society.

The congress was also an important opportunity for meetings and professional exchange with leading German and European experts. For our clinic, long-standing professional ties with colleagues in Germany are more than international contacts — they mean a constant exchange of knowledge, clinical experience and modern approaches to diagnosis and treatment.
A separate part of DOG 2026 was a large professional exhibition, where the world’s leading manufacturers presented the latest technologies, surgical systems, diagnostic equipment and solutions that will shape ophthalmology in the coming years. It is important for us to see these innovations first-hand, discuss them with developers and experts, and assess them above all by their real value for the patient.

This is how we understand modern expert medicine: international experience, strong professional partnerships and world-class technology must translate into a concrete advantage for the patient — more accurate diagnosis, well-founded treatment choices, safety and the best possible outcome.
